Benitez takes over Chelsea hot seat until the end of the sea

Chelsea moved quickly to replace the sacked Roberto Di Matteo Wednesday as Rafael Benitez was appointed as interim manager until the end of the season.

The English Premier League side made the announcement on their official website, just hours after the departure of Di Matteo, who had led them to European Champions League glory for the first time earlier this year.

Former Valencia and Liverpool manager Benitez will be thrown in at the deep end, with Chelsea taking on EPL reigning champions and leaders Manchester City Sunday.

"The owner and the Board believe that in Benitez we have a manager with significant experience at the highest level of football, who can come in and immediately help deliver our objectives," read the club statement,Beats By Dr Dre.

&quot,Beats Sverige; The 52-year-old Spaniard is due to meet the players at the training ground in Cobham tomorrow (Thursday),Monster Beats," it added.

Benitez, who will be the ninth manager under owner Roman Abramovich, has been out of work since being sacked by Inter Milan in December 2010.

He guided Valencia to two Spanish titles and the UEFA Cup and spent six years at Liverpool, highlighted by their Champions League triumph in 2005 and reaching the final in 2007,Beats by dre.

Former Barcelona manager Pepe Guardiola has been linked with the Chelsea job,Billiga Beats By Dr Dre, but is currently on a year-long sabbatical after leaving the Catalan giants at the end of last season.

Di Matteo, who also won the FA Cup with Chelsea during his brief spell in charge, paid the price for a poor recent run of results,Billiga Monster, culminating in a 3-0 defeat to Juventus Tuesday which leaves their participation in the knockout stages of this season's Champions League in considerable doubt.

Redknapp set for QPR job

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he is set to take over as the new manager of Queens Park Rangers.

The former Tottenham boss is poised to replace Mark Hughes at Loftus Road, who was fired on Friday following a disastrous start to the season.

Rangers have failed to win a single game so far this season and has taken just four points from a possible 36.

But the 65-year-old, who was recently linked with the manager's job of the Ukrainian national team, will be at Old Trafford on Saturday for Rangers' game against Manchester United.

Winless QPR sack Hughes

Redknapp has been out of work since leaving Tottenham five months ago but says he cannot wait to get started with QPR.

"Hopefully we can get it done tonight, there shouldn't be any problems,&quot,Monster Beats; he told Sky Sports.

"I fancy getting back into the Premier League, billiga nike sko. QPR is a good club, with great fans and a great atmosphere.

"It's a privilege to go there and manage them. I'm looking forward to the challenge. It's a big challenge. It will be a tough job to take on but I am up for the challenge,Beats Sverige."

&quot, air max;If I can manage to keep them up then I'll be the happiest man around. It's not going to be easy but nobody's under any illusions.

"I'll watch the game tomorrow. I will probably travel up and watch the game in the stand. "If everything gets sorted, and I'm sure it will, I'll be in Sunday morning and will have the team in training on Monday, then fly up to Sunderland."

Redknapp also believes that the current crop of players at Loftus Road must be the ones to fire QPR away from the dreaded drop zone.

He added: &quot, billige nike free;I don't think too much will happen in January. There is a big staff there and you can't keep bringing players in,Beats By Dr Dre. The players have got to start performing, billiga nike shox.

"If they do that we've got a chance...find a way to pick up points, be hard to beat and win some matches. It's all about the players, nike shox."

Redknapp is hoping to bring in his own backroom staff with Kevin Bond and Joe Jordan both expected to join him in west London.

Tottenham part with manager Redknapp

Redknapp, who guided Spurs to its first ever Champions League campaign in 2010, led the club to fourth last season only to miss out on Europe's top competition following Chelsea's incredible win in Munich.

Many had expected Redknapp to be appointed as the new England Head Coach following Fabio Capello's resignation last February.

But after losing out to Roy Hodgson and the nature of his Tottenham side's disappointing end to the season, he left White Hart Lane in the summer.

McIlroy targeting major assault in 2013

Rory McIlroy is to trim his schedule to focus on 2013's four major trophies after a fairytale year in which he won five tournaments and both the U.S. PGA and European Tour money lists to finish on top of the world rankings.

The 23-year-old says a greater understanding of his own game has propelled him to new heights as he gave notice to the game's great and good that he could dominate the sport for years to come,Monster Beats.

McIlroy's five-star 2012 included his second major at the PGA Championship, and he finished the season in perfect fashion by claiming the Dubai World Championship crown on Sunday.

After topping the world rankings for the first time in his career in March, McIlroy's form has seen him firmly entrenched as the game's best player, and he told CNN that is in part down to greater self assurance,Beats By Dr Dre.

Read: Magical McIlroy reigns in Dubai

"I know myself more, way better as a golfer, and what works for me," he told Living Golf anchor Shane O'Donoghue.

"Some things that I tried to incorporate into my game didn't work for me and I think you've just got to find your way a little bit.

"I guess over the last couple of years I've done that and winning big tournaments and winning majors, you grow in confidence and it gives you belief, belief that you are doing the right things."

McIlroy's performances on both sides of the pond ensured he emulated world No. 2 Luke Donald, billige nike sko, who last year became the first man ever to top both the PGA Tour and European Tour money lists.

And despite winning the Honda Classic, the BMW Championship, billige nike shox, the Deutsche Bank and Dubai titles it is the major tournaments that remain McIlroy's main target.

To give himself the best possible chance to launch his charge at the quadruple in 2013, he's taking his lead from one of the game's all time greats -- his rival and friend, 14-time major winner Tiger Woods.

"I'm gonna cut my schedule back a little bit next year and try and peak four times a year for the big tournaments," he explained.

&quot, billige nike free;I think it's something that Tiger has done so well over the years and probably why he's been so successful.

"So I'm going to try and take a little bit of a leaf out of his book and cut down on the schedule and make sure I'm fresh for every tournament I play.

I'm really looking forward to 2013 already, even though this year has just ended. I'm looking forward to preparing and getting my game in shape for next year, nike air max."

McIlroy ended his final round in Dubai with five straight birdies to hold off the challenge of European Ryder Cup teammate Justin Rose, who led by two shots at one stage during a course record score of 62,nike free.

But, watched by his girlfriend and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, McIlroy wasn't to be denied a fairytale ending to his season.

"I sort of wrapped up the U.S. money list earlier on in the season and I guess my one big goal after that was to win the Race to Dubai and and win the European money list, billiga nike sko," he said.

"I finished second in China, third in Singapore and then got the win here. It was a big goal of mine. I wanted to win the Race to Dubai since the start of the year.

Redskins vs. Giants MNF becomes showcase for Robert Griffin

LANDOVER, MD — Monday Night Football became another showcase for RGIII. See RGIII run. See RGIII throw. See RGIII lead the Redskins to an important victory over the defending Super Bowl champions.

Throwing a go-ahead touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon early in the fourth quarter, Griffin (163 yards passing, 72 yards rushing) carried the Redskins to a 17-16 victory before a raucous crowd at FedEx Field. The Redskins’ third straight victory lifted them to .500 (6-6),nike shox, and if the Redskins make the playoffs, Griffin is going to be a nightmare for his opponent to game plan for.

The NFC East race is officially a dogfight now, with the Giants (7-5), Redskins (6-6), and Cowboys (6-6) all alive, nike shox. Here are three things we learned watching Monday night’s outcome:

Griffin’s running is still a major part of the Redskins’ offense. There was a debate earlier in the year about whether Griffin was running too much. Stop the debate. He needs to run to make the Redskins’ offense go. Just the threat of Griffin on the edge makes defenders freeze,Monster Beats. It happened to the Giants on many occasions Monday night. Griffin has become a superb ball handler, reading the defense on the option, and either tucking the ball into a running back’s belly, or keeping it himself to run or throw.

The Giants had to respect Griffin’s ability to get outside, which created more space for running back Alfred Morris, billige nike shox, who enjoyed a huge night. When the Giants got careless and converged on Morris, Griffin burned them with several big runs.

Yes, Griffin should look to get out of bounds a little more often. But the Redskins can’t take his legs away from his game,Beats By Dr Dre. It’s too big a part of what makes him special.

The Redskins’ defense is capable of a coming up big. It has not happened often enough, but it happened against the Giants. The Redskins’ defense was tough in the red zone, holding the Giants to field goals in crucial spots, billiga nike shox, and preventing Eli Manning from having one of his patented fourth-quarter comebacks, nike air max.

Griffin has bailed out the Redskins’ defense on many occasions this season. But this victory was a group effort.

The Giants still can’t afford December drama. After whipping the Packers in Week 12, the Giants were looking to put distance between themselves and the rest of the NFC East. Not so fast. The Giants have lost three of their last four, and they are still not playing consistent football.

Yes, the Giants are still a threat to reach another Super Bowl, nike free. But for them, nothing seems to come easy.

Jake Locker shows heart and athleticism, but accuracy is lag

NASHVILLE, Tenn.— didn’t bust out of the starting gate like a Kentucky Derby winner.

In his second NFL season, the Tennessee Titans' quarterback has forced fans to be patience, not to mention his teammates and coaches. While rookie quarterbacks Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson have all enjoyed great success, Locker still is finding his way in his first season as a starter.

Coach Mike Munchak says the payoff will come in time, and the goal is for that time to be sooner rather than later. The final four games of this season are crucial for Locker—and the Titans—as the team’s 4-8 record makes it impossible for outsiders not to peek ahead to next year and the future.

“Obviously, we’re happy the direction he’s going,” Munchak said. “It’s really about us all pulling together. We’ll see how the next four weeks go. But we’re happy with Jake and feel like he is going to be a good football player for this franchise for a long, long time. He’s just going to keep getting better and better.”

The Titans drafted Locker eighth overall in the 2011 Draft, but while other QBs from that class—Cam Newton, Andy Dalton and Christian Ponder—started and had success as rookies, Tennessee let Locker sit back and learn from veteran Matt Hasselbeck.

At the start of this season, the team turned things over to Locker, although things haven’t gone exactly as planned. Locker has dislocated his left shoulder twice this season and has missed five starts as a result.

Now he’s back behind center and experiencing some bumps along the way. The Titans are only 2-5 with Locker as a starter.

With just those seven career starts under his belt, though, it’s still too early to make a definitive assessment of him. There’s no question he’s a great athlete, and he brings an extra dimension to the game with his elusiveness and ability to take off and run.

But Locker continues to have issues with accuracy, which was a question mark about him coming out of the University of Washington. Locker goes through stretches of games where he’s off target and misses open receivers. He’s also had opportunities to step up and win close games with heroic, last-minute drives, but so far it hasn’t happened. Luck, on the other hand, already has five of those under his belt for the Indianapolis Colts.

Locker said his first two NFL seasons have been a learning experience. In Year 2, he has completed 56.6 percent of his passes for 1,473 yards and a 77.0 passer rating, nike sko. With his 4.6 speed in the 40, he also has run 21 times for 162 yards.

Locker is coming off the worst start of his career. In a 24-10 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday, he was responsible for five turnovers—two fumbles and three interceptions—in addition to being sacked six times.

“There’s been some tough times, billige nike sko, but you are able to learn a lot from that,” Locker said. “You try not to make the same mistakes twice. The goal is to learn from the things you might’ve made mistakes on.”

In the meeting rooms, Locker has proved to be a stand-up guy who doesn’t hesitate to take responsibility for his mistakes. In the locker room, he’s respected by his teammates—young and old. He’s become much more of a leader in his second year.

In Sunday’s game against the Texans, Locker even came to the defense of a teammate—center Fernando Velasco—after he was leveled by a blind-side block from Houston defensive end Antonio Smith during an interception return. Smith was hit with a 15-yard personal foul.

Locker got in the face of the 285-pound Smith when the game ended. "The little young whippersnapper tried to come and tell an old cat how to play football," Smith said, via the Houston Chronicle.

"That's why we love Jake," Velasco said with a smile. "Jake's a great guy. He's a warrior. He's a fighter. He's got a lot of heart.”

The Titans are expected to shuffle their personnel in 2013 on both sides of the ball. The offensive line will surely take on a different look, and Locker could have some new faces to throw the ball to, even though some key players—receivers Nate Washington, Kenny Britt and rookie Kendall Wright—are under contract.

Locker is going to be the guy leading the way as one of the faces of the franchise, billige nike shox. How he develops will go a long way toward determining whether the Titans can become contenders again in the AFC South.

“I really like the kid,’’ said Dowell Loggains, the team’s quarterbacks coach who recently replaced Chris Palmer as offensive coordinator, “and everyone else with the team does, too.”

Patriots vs. Texans New England in accustomed role, Super B

FOXBOROUGH, Mass.—Just like that, after their 42-14 squashing of the best-in-the-AFC Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium on Monday, a New England Patriots season that looked to be in disarray has wound up in familiar territory.

Less than two months ago, the Pats were 3-3 and in overtime at home against the New York Jets. Now they're 10-3 and easy winners of the AFC East, separated from the No. 1 seed in the conference only by a strong finish and a little bit of good fortune.

— Crazy play:

Yes, get used to it—when looking ahead, the Patriots are shaping up as a good bet to land in New Orleans for the Super Bowl this winter, nike shox.

There was much to be learned from this one, besides the simple fact that the Patriots, behind 296 yards and four touchdowns from quarterback Tom Brady, outclassed the upstart Texans with another incredible performance from their offense and a continued rejuvenation of their defense.

1. J.J. Watt, meet Vince Wilfork. There has been much discussion about the dominating year Watt has had for the Texans, and he will likely be the league’s defensive MVP. Heck, billige nike free, the Patriots’ offense even took to practicing against a defensive line armed with tennis racquets to simulate Watt’s ability to knock down passes. To be sure, a proud veteran like Wilfork took notice of the Watt hype, and he came into this game particularly lathered up, playing on national television against a banged-up Texans line.

Wilfork pretty much had his way, routinely setting up camp on the Texans’ side of the line of scrimmage. He made a huge defensive play at the end of the first quarter, back when there was still some drama in this one, driving through Texans center Chris Myers, getting to QB Matt Schaub and knocking the ball out of his hands for a fumble. The Texans recovered the fumble, but Wilfork was credited with a 20-yard sack on the play.

2. Brandon Lloyd is not a bust. Over the past few weeks, the Patriots receiver has taken heat from the local media, the suggestions being that Lloyd is not much of a competitor and doesn't fight to make tough catches or get extra yardage.

Expectations for Lloyd were high after he reunited with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who coached Lloyd during his best year in Denver. Instead, Lloyd came into Week 13 with 50 catches and just 561 yards and three touchdowns.

Brady seemed to make it a point to get the ball to Lloyd on the Patriots’ second scoring drive, finding him on an out pattern for 14 yards to the left sideline for a key third-down conversion when the Patriots were at their own 18-yard line. Moments later, on a first-and-10 play from the Houston 37-yard line, Brady found Lloyd on a simple post route that he caught for a touchdown.

Lloyd even padded his numbers when he recovered a Danny Woodhead fumble for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Patriots will need more from Lloyd with tight end Rob Gronkowski and receiver Julian Edelman out, and his numbers against the Texans—a season-high seven catches for 89 yards—are a good start.

3. The problems in the Texans' secondary are turning into a crisis. There were signs that the mounting injuries in the defensive backfield had the makings of a big problem. Going against Jacksonville, Detroit and Tennessee in the three previous weeks, Houston had allowed 352.0 passing yards per game.

The Texans’ top corner, Johnathan Joseph, has been battling groin and hamstring issues and missed two games. Alan Ball filled in behind Joseph, but is now on the inactive list with a foot injury. Brice McCain, who probably would have gotten the bulk of snaps as the Texans’ nickel corner, broke his foot in Week 13 and will miss about eight weeks.

The result was a secondary that looked clueless trying to contain the New England attack, which saw Tom Brady roll up 296 yards passing on 21-for-35 passing, hitting three different receivers for touchdown passes.

While the entire secondary was bad, no one had a rougher go than safety Danieal Manning, billige nike shox, who was almost entirely responsible for the second-quarter drive that allowed the Patriots to go up, 21-0. Manning gave up a third-down conversion trying to cover Aaron Hernandez in the first series of the drive, then was called for a 26-yard pass interference on Wes Welker, on an uncatchable ball on a third-and-8 play on the second series.

When the Patriots had a first-and-goal from the 4-yard line, the Texans were in disarray. Hernandez caught Manning sleeping and took a quick pass from Brady easily into the end zone as Manning vainly scrambled to make up for the mistake.

John McAfee lands back in the US after Central American odys

Security stalwart John McAfee is now in the US following his exit from Belize and subsequent deportation from Guatemala.

The McAfee founder said late Wednesday evening that he was on a plane en route to Miami and would soon be joined by his girlfriend and another woman.

Speaking to reporters after his arrival in the US,Beats By Dr Dre, McAfee said that he had "nothing to do" with the November murder of his neighbour Gregory Faull in Belize, the incident which triggered his flight from government authorities and ultimately led to his arrival in Miami.

McAfee said that the killing of Faull was part of a conspiracy by the police and government in the Central American country, which began last April when his house was raided as part of a drugs investigation.

Police have not issued a warrant for McAfee or charged him with Faull's murder, but the 67-year-old technology pioneer is being sought for a police interview in the case,Billiga Beats By Dr Dre. McAfee has claimed numerous times that authorities would kill him if he were brought into custody.

McAfee claims to have evidence of widespread government corruption in Belize including audio which he says implicates police and government of plotting against him,Beats by dre. After a short time on the run, McAfee entered Guatemala where he was held in immigration charges and briefly hospitalised.

According to an ABC news report, McAfee admitted to faking a heart attack in order to get out of jail and expedite his removal to the US and prevent a return to Belize.

Egnyte gives CIOs Cloud Control over storage

Egnyte has taken the wraps off a new data sharing product that lets users access files regardless of the storage cloud they are located in.

The product is called Egnyte Cloud Control and it allows users to group together storage devices and cloud types into a “global name space”, making it easier for them to access their data.

“Content can live completely behind the firewall, in a third party storage cloud,” said Egnyte in a statement.

“Within corporate networks, billige nike sko, Cloud Control works off of existing file system structures, nike air max, does not force deployment of proprietary file systems and allows direct access to local shares.”

The company claims data can be uploaded to the service 25 times faster than it can with “ordinary” cloud services, and that it will help users keep tabs on where their data is stored.

“IT departments have a unique and complex set of problems when setting the cloud strategy for their organisation, nike free,” the company stated.

“They must balance where their data resides due to regulatory and reporting issues, with investments in existing infrastructure and the demands of the BYOD movement...[Cloud Control] bridges the gap.”

Arian Foster buys Segways for Houston Texans offensive line

If you open holes for Arian Foster, he will open his wallet in appreciation.

Foster gave the Texans’ offensive linemen Segway personal transporters on Wednesday in appreciation for their efforts. Foster (1,313 yards) has rushed for at least 1,nike shox,200 yards the past three seasons. He leads the NFL with 14 rushing touchdowns.

"I feel like all of them big hogs up front can enjoy the joy that I get from riding my Segway," Foster told the Houston Chronicle, nike air max. "Guys like Chris Myers and D. (Duane) Brown, and Wade Smith, they’re always getting on me about riding my Segway. You can’t walk? You’re too good to walk?

"I was like, nike free, `No man. I would just rather ride wheels.’ I saw a little jealousy in their eyes when they were talking about me, so I figured I’d get all the linemen a gift. They were very thankful, very grateful. I can’t do anything without them. If there’s no them, there is no me."

Foster’s generosity will do nothing to diminish his line’s desire to block for him. Who knows? If the yards keep coming during the playoffs, maybe more gifts will be coming.

The Cosby Sweaters Koos van den Akker Sports Rockstar of the

It’s the end of year. So that means it’s time to hand out some hardware — Cosby Sweaters style.

In honor of the man who inspired this whole thing by designing the first Cosby Sweater, we’d thought we’d hand out an award in his name.

What are the requirements for this prestigious honor? You have be a little odd, fun, and not take life that seriously.

So, here are the finalists for the Cosby Sweaters Koos van den Akker Sports Rockstar of the Year:

Rob Gronkowski: Our Biz Development manager said that Gronk “brought Hollywood back to sports, billige nike sko.”  He’s right. Gronk knows how to spend money. He’s got some good-looking  friends. He’s also got some fantastic TD celebrations.

And if that isn’t enough, he’s also a real nice guy.

The Fierce Five:  Watching this team was a highlight of the Olympics. Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Kayla Ross, and Jordyn Wieber pretty much destroyed the competition this past summer in London. Douglas also may have one of the best sports nicknames ever with “The Flying Squirrel.” And this photo is fantastic.

R.A. Dickey: We like weirdos here at Cosby Sweaters, nike free. This past year Dickey perfected oddity. His knuckleball was virtually unhittable for a stretch.  Knuckleball, a documentary about Dickey, Tim Wakefield and the aforementioned pitch, was one of the best sports films of the year.

He’s was also a fantastic interview on the Daily Show. Best line? When Dickey referred to the “Jedi Council of Knuckleballers”

Dustin Penner: We like breakfast foods here at CS. So does LA Kings forward Dustin Penner. And any athlete that interns at Conan is pretty cool in our book.

But we have to give the final award to someone…

And it’s going to be Steve Nash

He did hilarious impersonations of  Batman, the Godfather, and Jason Bourne. He may have started the newest NBA fashion trend.  He’s also not afraid to accept beer from random strangers on the freeway. Congrats Steve.

(Just to note, Nash getting the award had nothing to do with the fact that he&#8217,billige nike free;s now a Laker.)

Until next year!

Overzealous 49ers Fan Needs a Hobby, Threatens to Kill Kicke

You know you’ve hit rock bottom when you find yourself with nothing better to do than threaten kickers with death on the interwebs. He’s a kicker, man. Nonetheless, that’s exactly what one 49ers fan decided to tweet to kicker David Akers, who&#8217,nike air max;s missed 10 of 35 field goals this season.

The kicker retweeted it before disabling his account:
