Benitez takes over Chelsea hot seat until the end of the sea

Chelsea moved quickly to replace the sacked Roberto Di Matteo Wednesday as Rafael Benitez was appointed as interim manager until the end of the season.

The English Premier League side made the announcement on their official website, nike air max, just hours after the departure of Di Matteo, nike free, who had led them to European Champions League glory for the first time earlier this year.

Former Valencia and Liverpool manager Benitez will be thrown in at the deep end, with Chelsea taking on EPL reigning champions and leaders Manchester City Sunday.

"The owner and the Board believe that in Benitez we have a manager with significant experience at the highest level of football, who can come in and immediately help deliver our objectives, nike sko," read the club statement.

"The 52-year-old Spaniard is due to meet the players at the training ground in Cobham tomorrow (Thursday)," it added.

Benitez, billige nike sko, who will be the ninth manager under owner Roman Abramovich, billige nike free, has been out of work since being sacked by Inter Milan in December 2010.

He guided Valencia to two Spanish titles and the UEFA Cup and spent six years at Liverpool, highlighted by their Champions League triumph in 2005 and reaching the final in 2007.

Former Barcelona manager Pepe Guardiola has been linked with the Chelsea job, but is currently on a year-long sabbatical after leaving the Catalan giants at the end of last season, nike shox.

Di Matteo, who also won the FA Cup with Chelsea during his brief spell in charge, paid the price for a poor recent run of results, culminating in a 3-0 defeat to Juventus Tuesday which leaves their participation in the knockout stages of this season's Champions League in considerable doubt.

Anti-semitic chanting mars Lazio's home draw against Tottenh

Lazio's 0-0 home draw against Tottenham Hotspur in a top European club football match Thursday was marred by anti-semitic chanting, according to local media.

The chant "Spurs Jews, billige nike shox, Spurs Jews" came from the north stand of the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, reported Italian news agency ANSA.

A banner reading "Free Palestine&quot, nike sko; was also unveiled by Lazio fans during the key Europa League match.

English Premier League Tottenham have a strong following from the Jewish community in North London where their White Hart Lane Stadium is situated.

The incidents came after Tottenham fans in the Italian capital were attacked in Camp de Fiori, in the heart of Rome's nightlife area Wednesday night.

One was left in a serious condition in a local hospital after an assault in a bar, apparently by extremist supporters named &quot, nike free;Ultras".

A Rome police spokesman told CNN that arrests had been made following the attacks, nike air max.

"I can confirm that we have arrested two Roma fans after the incident yesterday at the Drunken Ship pub in the Campo de'Fiori district," he said.

Roma are the local rival club to Lazio and both play in the Stadio Olimpico.

The pre-match violence and offensive chanting was in sharp contrast to a warm reception given to former Tottenham and England football star Paul Gascoigne, who also played for Lazio.

The 45-year-old, who has battled personal problems, donned a light blue and white scarf, the colors of Lazio, as he was presented to the crowd.

"Welcome back Gazza, billige nike sko. Lionheart, headstrong, pure talent, real man: still our hero," said one of the banners held aloft by home fans.

The match itself left both teams well-placed in Europe's second level club competition.

Lazio are already through to the knockout stage and top the group, while Tottenham, who owed the draw to heroics from French international goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, need only to avoid defeat in their final home match against Greek side Panathinaikos to go through,Monster Beats.

In other games, Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o scored as Russia's Anzhi Makhachkala moved into the knockout round with a 2-0 win over Italy's Udinese.

But Liverpool were held 2-2 at home by Swiss side Young Boys in the same group, with the second place to be decided in the final batch of matches.

La Liga high flyers Atletico Madrid also secured their passage with a 1-0 home win over Hapoel Tel Aviv, while French side Bordeaux and EPL Newcastle have gone through from Group D.

The European football season has been marked by a series of racist incidents, with England players in an under-21 international in Serbia, claiming they had been subjected to offensive chanting.

Governing body UEFA has charged the Serbian FA but said Thursday it had decided to postpone a decision on the disciplinary case until December 13.

Former England captain John Terry was recently banned by the English FA for four games for racial language he directed at an opponent in an EPL game last year, nike shox.

Earlier Thursday, the FA cleared referee Mark Clattenburg of making racist comments to Terry's Chelsea teammate Jon Obi Mikel during a match against Manchester United last month, nike shox.

Legend Senna inspired Vettel

Sebastian Vettel described his achievement of claiming a third successive Formula One crown in the country of racing legend Ayrton Senna as 'unreal'.

The Red Bull driver became the youngest ever triple world champion in the history of the sport after recovering from a disastrous start to finish sixth at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Brazilian favourite Senna, nike shox, who won his home Grand Prix in 1990 and 1991, was also a three-time world champion before his tragic death following a crash at Imola in 1994.

Victorious Vettel makes history

Senna, who died at the age of just 34, won 41 races in 161 attempts and established himself as one of the most talented drivers to have ever graced the sport.

Vettel, 25, is just the third driver in history to win three successive titles, equaling the achievements of Argentine Juan Manuel Fangio and Germany's Michael Schumacher.

He now joins the likes of Senna, Nelson Piquet, billiga nike sko, Niki Lauda, Jackie Stewart and Jack Brabham on three championship triumphs.

Unreal

"To do this, for all of us in the team it is unreal," he told reporters, billiga nike free.

"Also to win a third title here,Beats by dre, where one of the greatest Ayrton (Senna) came from.

"It is very difficult to imagine that I join him and other great names by winning three successive titles.

&quot, billige nike sko;My radio was not working, I was crying and you didn't hear that and I am very happy about that. I just can't find the right words to describe how I feel right now.

"Christian (Horner) came on the radio and told me the names of all the three-time champions and I cried."

Tears

For much of the race it appeared that Vettel would be shedding different kind of tears following a nightmare start to the race.

The German was involved in an opening lap collision with Williams' Bruno Senna, which damaged his car and left him at the back of the grid.

Fangio vs. Senna: Who is the greatest?

With his chief rival Fernando Alonso claiming second place, Vettel somehow managed to fight his way up to a sixth place finish to win the title by just three points, nike air max.

He added: "I just kept trying to race. We always believed.

"I was so very happy to climb back after being hit like that at the start -- you imagine spinning backwards on the M25 (British motorway). It was not a very comfortable feeling, billiga nike shox.

"I really want to thank everyone in the team here and in the factory and all of us. Nobody feels more important than anybody else. It is unbelievable for me.

"I had to avoid everyone and I was lucky nobody hit me. Fortunately, the front wing was intact which was important. I was forced back and in the mixed conditions I was the slowest car out there on the straight,Billiga Monster.

"We just did our thing. That's the way we do it and it works in our team."

Life gets strange hunting traffickers in the U.S.

Editor’s Note: CNN Freedom Project this week is reporting from the front lines in the fight against sex trafficking - not in the poverty-stricken developing world but in affluent Orange County near Los Angeles, where prostitutes are now treated as trafficking victims rather than criminals.

By Martin Savidge

Anaheim, California (CNN) - It feels odd to be in a car sat next to a guy texting a pimp. Even more odd, he's pretending to be a prostitute. It can all get a little strange in the digital pursuit of human traffickers.

I'm sitting in the front seat of an SUV in a part of Orange County, nike free, California only the locals see - where the hotels are not chains and have names that cops and criminals alike know well. The &#034,nike shox;prostitute" beside me is actually Sergeant Craig Friesen.

Nearby, either parked or patrolling, are four other vehicles holding the rest of his undercover team.

Earlier, we saw a pickup truck in a parking lot across the street approaching several women. The guy wasn't having much luck - which was too bad since he was on Friesen's crew.

Over the radio the detective relayed that after propositioning one lady she did offer a sex act - telling him he should go F$@# himself, nike air max.

It's an example of how prostitution can bring down a neighborhood, making it so a woman can't go to the store without being harassed by some john who&#039,billige nike sko;s looking for sex.

Click to watch video

Despite the area being known for the sex trade, billige nike shox, things are slow. Either the team's cover was known or it was an off day. Every business has them.

Then the undercover cop in the pickup gets lucky. He picks up a petite African American girl wearing blue patterned shorts and top. They drive off and we fall in behind trailing at a distance in the noon hour traffic.

Out of nowhere a black and white police car pulls in behind the pickup. The lights flash, the "whoop, whoop" sounds and the pickup is pulled over. Friesen guns the SUV, roaring past the scene and into a nearby alley.

We get out and head back to what appears to be a busted undercover operation but the sergeant's not upset - this is all part of the plan.

Friesen has the girl take a seat on the curb as the patrol car blocks her from passing traffic. He comes down to her level and begins the most important part of the whole operation - he needs to earn her trust and her confidence.

He begins by explaining she's not under arrest. It's in keeping with the new attitude of law enforcement that prostitutes are victims, controlled and manipulated by their pimps. They are caught up in the worldwide plague of human trafficking. And they try to help the victims escape.

Friesen is trying to get the woman to turn her pimp in. Eventually, Friesen tells her, she will be brought back to police headquarters and placed in the care of social services, who will offer her a place to live and a way off the street so she's not dependent on the pimp for her needs.

The young woman listens but doesn't buy it. She stays silent. Eventually Friesen gives up and she is taken away. But the sergeant has hung on to her cell phone.

Click to watch video

He sees texts on the phone that appear to come from her pimp, and he responds as if he is the woman. Which is how I came to be seated in an SUV in Anaheim with a prostitute, billige nike free, um, pretend prostitute.

Since her guy thinks she's gone off with a client, Friesen waits a while, then sends the message that the client left her at a hotel and she needs the pimp to pick her up. He gives the location as a hotel Friesen and his team have already staked out.

A reception committee of several armed officers waits inside the hotel, other spotters are nearby, and Friesen and I are parked across the street as he continuously sends messages to the pimp. "He left come get me."

Then there's a problem.

The pimp texts back he wants her to call him which, of course, Friesen can't do. He quickly improvises and texts back the phone has a problem: "My phone trippin'&#034,nike sko; and she can only text.

He knows it's a weak ploy... But what else can he do? The fingers still fly and the digital conversation goes on, but it becomes pretty clear the pimp is suspicious.

The team continues to wait, but after an hour the pimp's a no-show and the texts stop coming. The operation is finally called off.

Months later, through phone records and surveillance, they finally turn this virtual conversation into a real arrest.

But although they think they have the man who they suspect is forcing a young woman into prostitution, the district attorney's office doesn't find enough evidence to make charges stick, and the man is let go.

The end result is something Friesen and his team have grown to accept. A young woman was pulled off the street and offered the opportunity for help. Sometimes that's all you can hope for.

India's children suffer in brutal conditions

Editor's Note: Anti-trafficking expert Siddharth Kara is the author of “Bonded Labor: Tackling the System of Slavery in South Asia,” providing the first comprehensive overview of bonded labor in South Asia.

During the CNN coverage of my last major research trip for my new book on bonded labor, I wrote an article about my findings of debt bondage, human trafficking, and child labor in several construction projects for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

Thousands of workers had been trafficked into Delhi by labor contractors to complete the massive construction projects for the Games at minimal cost.

These findings proved consistent with much of the construction sector across South Asia.

In fact, the labor conditions for the Commonwealth Games in 2010 were shockingly similar to those almost 30 years earlier when New Delhi hosted the Asian Games.

Those games became the subject of the first ever Supreme Court Case in India relating to bonded labor, People’s Union for Democratic Rights vs. Union of India and Others, nike air max, 1982. Despite a resounding denouncement by the court against bonded labor, three decades later, little had changed.

Construction, like many other industries in South Asia, promotes exploitation by virtue of apathy, custom, corruption, and greed. There is also a particular impunity built into the system of construction labor contracting that is especially effective at promoting trafficking and bondage.

After winning a bid for a project, major construction companies often subcontract the labor recruitment and management to jamadars. These are labor recruiters who offer advances to peasants across India in exchange for working on the project.

Entire families can be recruited with the promise of good wages and conditions, but on arrival, the laborers can be severely exploited.

The jamadar pockets the funds he is supposed to disburse for wages, shelter, food, and medicine, and then typically kicks some of this back to the construction company that hired him.

The laws across South Asia relating to the concept of vicarious liability do not capture the relationship between a construction company and its independent contractors, so it is very difficult to hold the companies liable for the behavior of their subcontractors.  As a result, construction workers often suffer extreme abuse.

“We are treated like cockroaches,” a laborer named Rashmi told me, “It is not just the jamadars—the government has betrayed the people. We are like dogs in the street scrounging for food and shelter. They promise us wages, but we have been here five months with no wages and barely enough food to eat. I feel no human dignity.”

Two sectors that feed directly into the construction sector - stones and bricks - are just as exploitative as construction.

Millions of the most destitute peasants in South Asia are recruited each year into back-breaking work bashing stones or baking bricks to be used in construction projects.

In the city of Faridabad, I documented bonded laborers who hammered away at giant granite boulders in the same quarries that were the subject of the second Supreme Court case in India that dealt with bonded labor: Bandhua Mukti Morcha vs. Union of India and Others, 1983.

Despite a blistering indictment by the court, 30 years later many of the same conditions of bondage remained.

With bricks, peasants work 14 or more hours a day in highly dangerous conditions baking bricks in a kiln that seethes at 1000+ degrees Celsius.

The peasants often migrate to the kilns each year, perpetually seeking to pay off loans that almost always seem to grow.

When a bonded laborer named Gurahu attempted to flee from his insurmountable debts, the brick owner’s men tracked him down, punished him with electric shocks, and sold his daughter to a trafficker as punishment.

“I could not believe God had done this,” Gurahu told me,nike free. “I wanted to take my life. You cannot imagine how much pain I felt. I never saw my daughter again.”

The sub-human working conditions and barbaric exploitation inherent to the system of bonded labor remains a shameful scar on the face of South Asia, billiga nike free. My final article will detail how we might bring these injustices to an end.

High-Profile New York City Athletes Are Available For Free

Remember when Amar’e Stoudemire joined the New York Knicks and looked like an MVP candidate right out of the gate? That was just two years ago &#8212,Beats By Dr Dre; yeah, it just feels like it&#8217,Beats Sverige;s been longer — and my, how times have changed: Mike D’Antoni is out, Carmelo Anthony is channeling his Summer Olympic beast-mode, J.R,Monster Beats. Smith stopped partying, and the Knicks have an Eastern Conference-best 19-6 record. Thus, the Knicks faithful are worried that Stoudemire’s return, which could be sometime next week, will throw an 800-pound monkey wrench into the Garden Party.

As if that’s not damaging enough to Stoudemire’s psyche, Howard Beck of the New York Times reports that the New York Knicks attempted to trade Stoudemire to pretty much any team willing to take on the big man’s baggage, and not just recently:

This past summer, the Knicks offered Stoudemire to nearly every team in the league — “available for free,” as one rival executive put it. But they found no takers because of his diminished production, his health and his contract, which has three years and $65 million remaining (counting this season) and which is uninsured against a career-ending knee injury.

In February, the Knicks wanted to send Stoudemire to Toronto in a deal for Andrea Bargnani, a person briefed on the discussion said. But the proposal was vetoed by James L. Dolan, the Garden chairman, before it ever reached the Raptors (who would not have made the deal anyway, team officials there said).

Before that, the Knicks tried to package Stoudemire and Chandler in a bid to land Dwight Howard.

Ouch! But not nearly as “Ouch!” as Mark Sanchez’s trade value:

Tebow Benched In Sporting Goods Store Display

&nbsp,nike shox;

Poor Tim Tebow. It seems like even after last year’s miracle run with the Denver Broncos he still can’t catch a break. The worst part is that it’s really through no fault of his own. He&#8217,billige nike free;s taken roughly 80 snaps this season and happened to be injured the one week they finally had no choice but to replace Mark Sanchez. Then he&#8217,billige nike sko;s suddenly the third string quarterback and, worst of all, he probably will be released from the Jets and find himself in free agent limbo.

Luckily, a Dick’s Sporting Goods (probably in New York or New Jersey) doesn’t care about all of that and set up the display shown above. Even Mannequin Tebow gets benched, it seems. This is a really creative display. I hope the guy who thought of it got a raise, because it’s stellar.

Bonded labor stretches from third to first world

Editor&#039,Monster Beats;s Note: Anti-trafficking expert Siddharth Kara is the author of “Bonded Labor: Tackling the System of Slavery in South Asia,” providing the first comprehensive overview of bonded labor in South Asia.

In September 2010, I met a young girl named Nirmala in the remote western Terai region of Nepal.  Nirmala is one of the thousands of internally trafficked domestic slaves in Nepal, called kamlari, who belong to the outcast Tharu ethnic group.

Agents recruit Tharu girls as young as eight to work as servants in upper-caste homes.  Aside from room and board, the children receive little to no payment for up to 10 years of work.  Kamlari girls often suffer extreme abuse and maltreatment.

“I did all the work,” Nirmala explained, “cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, washing dishes.  I woke each morning at 5 a.m. and went to sleep at 10 p.m. I slept on the floor…I did this work seven days a week. Sometimes the wife would beat me,Beats By Dr Dre. The husband in the home would rape me.  I did not want to be in that home.”

Nirmala’s situation is representative of a typical South Asian debt bondage arrangement: food and shelter as credit in exchange for slave-like labor exploitation.

The upper classes of Nepal see this arrangement as completely justified because the alternative for a low-caste girl such as Nirmala would be worse: destitution in her village or trafficking to India for forced prostitution.

My new book, “Bonded Labor: Tackling the System of Slavery in South Asia” provides the first comprehensive overview of the unconscionable system of bonded labor in South Asia.

In a series of articles for the CNN Freedom Project, I will describe the system in more detail and outline how we can best tackle this brutish mode of servile labor exploitation.

The issue of bonded labor may receive marginal attention globally, but bonded labor is the most extensive form of slavery in the world today.

There were approximately 18 to 20.5 million bonded laborers in the world at the end of 2011, almost 90% of whom were in South Asia.

This means that approximately half of the slaves in the world are bonded laborers in South Asia.

More importantly, the products made by bonded laborers touch almost every aspect of the global economy, including frozen shrimp and fish, tea, coffee, rice, wheat, diamonds, cubic zirconia, glassware, hand-woven carpets, limestone, salt, cigarettes,Billiga Monster, apparel, fireworks, sporting goods, and many more products.

Virtually everyone’s life, everywhere in the world, is touched by bonded labor in South Asia.

Bonded labor basically involves the exploitative interlinking of labor and credit agreements between parties.

On one side, a party possessing an abundance of capital and power provides credit, food, or tenancy to the other party, who, because he lacks almost any assets or capital, pledges his labor to work off the loan.

Given the vast power imbalances between the parties, the laborer is often severely exploited.  Bonded labor occurs when the exploitation descends to the level of slave-like abuse.

The borrower is often forced to work at pathetic wage levels to repay the debt. Exorbitant interest rates are charged (up to 20 percent per month), and money lent for future needs is added to the debt.

Sometimes these debts last a few years, and sometimes they are passed on to future generations if the original borrower perishes without having repaid the debt.

Centuries ago, debt bondage existed across the world from the American South to Medieval Europe to Tokugawa Japan. Social revolution and transition to market economies largely dissolved the system throughout the world, except for South Asia.

There, the system persists due to a highly pernicious cocktail of forces, including immense poverty, acute caste and gender discrimination, social apathy, corruption, and a global economy that scours the globe for the lowest cost of production possible.

The desperation of the bonded laborers I met across South Asia is acute.

Anguish to be rid of these debts leads to desperate measures, including the sale of kidneys, the sale of children to human traffickers, or suicide.

For the sake of the millions of outcast and destitute debt bondage slaves in South Asia like Nirmala, the need to eradicate this feudal system of slave-like exploitation could not be greater.

Dell commits to cloud client computing with Project Ophelia

Dell has unveiled the newest product in its cloud client computing range - code-named Project Ophelia - during the second day of CES 2013.

The device is roughly the size of a wireless dongle and plugs directly into a user’s monitor or television and requires only two amps of power, which it gets directly from the screen.

Running the Android Jellybean operating system,Beats By Dr Dre, Ophelia will deliver a desktop experience to users without the need for hardware and will bring cloud client computing to the mass consumer and enterprise market, the company claims.

Tarkan Maner, vice president and general manager of cloud client computing at Dell, told Cloud Pro the company chose Android over other more established desktop operating systems to take advantage of the half a million apps available through Google Play.

“Imagine your desktop having all these applications available from scratch - that is a big benefit for consumers and enterprise users, which is why we use Android,” Maner said,Beats Sverige.

“[With regard to security] we have our own IP on there to secure and lock down Android and create a management platform around Android ,Billiga Monster... securing it from the end user all the way back to the datacentre,” he added.

As well as enterprise and consumer users, Dell plans to use the product to forge closer ties with the telco community.

"During the design phase we got real interest from telcos who wanted to make it available as a service model to their consumers. So we are going to have a big push now into telcos who want to provide desktop-as-a-service through Dell cloud or their own cloud using these devices as a cloud computing end user platform,” Maner added.

Ophelia will begin its beta testing with 20 telcos across the globe after the announcement at CES and is expected to go on general release in the second half of 2013.

Chivas USA changing ‘identity’ with Eric Avila trade, draf

Chivas USA is practicing what it preaches. The rebuilding MLS club is going local, and it’s going Latin.

On Tuesday, Chivas added a trio of California natives in the MLS supplemental draft and then pulled the trigger on a trade that sent veteran midfielder Nick LaBrocca to the Colorado Rapids in exchange for Eric Avila,Monster Beats.

Both players are out of contract and must negotiate deals with their new clubs.

The fact Chivas called Avila, a San Diego native, a “Mexican-American midfielder” in the opening sentence of its press release is telling. Now managed by a Mexican coach, a Mexican club president and a Mexican director of soccer operations, the club is working to establish an on-field identity similar to that of its parent in Guadalajara, which signs only players eligible for the Mexican national team.

“We are not out to discriminate,” coach José Luis Sanchéz Solá said via the league’s website. “We are just working in the best interests of our group of investors and seeing how this can benefit those around them, mainly the LA fan base.”

Avila, 25, turned pro in 2008 after three seasons at UC-Santa Barbara and has played for FC Dallas and Toronto FC. He wasn’t re-signed by the Canadian club at the conclusion of the 2012 season, and his rights were acquired by the Rapids in last month’s re-entry draft,Billiga Beats By Dr Dre. He has started 33 games in his five-year MLS career.

LaBrocca, 28, a New York City native, has started 141 matches in six years and was a 2011 All-Star. But there is a style—and a profile—Chivas USA officials are looking for and Avila fits it.

“Just look at what Chivas USA has failed to do within the league,” said Sanchéz Solá, who is more famously known as El Chelís. “I could name 15 Mexican-American players off the top of my head who have played for other teams but have never played for Chivas USA. This is a real tragedy. It is like having daughters, not knowing where they sleep and when you find them, they have each had three children and you think to yourself, ‘How did this happen?’ ”

Sanchéz Solá went on to say the club remains committed to several players who have long-term deals but that he will do his best to integrate them with those he’s bringing aboard. Chivas drafted four players over the course of the SuperDraft and Supplemental Draft, all with California and/or Latin roots.

University of Connecticut playmaker Carlos Alvarez, the Los Angeles-born son of a former Chivas de Guadalajara player, was the No. 2-overall pick in last week’s SuperDraft. On Tuesday, Chivas picked up defender Jose Dias from UC Riverside,Beats by dre, forward Paul Islas from Fresno Pacific University and defender Joe Franco out of Cal State Northridge.

“We need to win games because we have won very little and we need to bring Mexican players, Chivas (de Guadalajara) players, make them believe (in Chivas USA) and bring that, that in the last eight, nine years, Chivas USA has not been able to do,” Sanchéz Solá said after taking the coaching job. “The team does not have an identity and, up until today, has been flavorless. And that’s what motivated me to accept (the job).”

Sanchéz Solá also said an offer from Celtic FC for Juan Agudelo “is not a serious one” but that the young U.S. national team forward likely will leave the club within the next year.

Veteran midfielder Shalrie Joseph, a four-time member of the MLS Best 11 who was acquired from the New England Revolution last summer, also isn’t in Chelís’ plans, according to reports. Joseph, 34, was born in Grenada and grew up in New York City.

Apple's Do Not Disturb glitch to persist until next week

Apple has told iPhone users afflicted by a glitch in its Do Not Disturb (DND) feature that the service will not be working normally until next week.

The DND tool allows users to set times when their iPhone won't ring, except for calls from pre-set lists of certain contacts,Beats By Dr Dre, to ensure owners are not disturbed.

However, while the feature is meant to automatically switch itself off at a set time, many complained that as the New Year broke, so too did the DND feature. Scores of users have complained that DND remains on, stopping calls arriving at all times unless turned off manually.

Apple has promised the feature will begin working correctly from next Monday,Billiga Monster, although gave no explanation for cause of the issue or how it will be fixed.

Until then users have to manually turn it off to ensure they receive calls.

"Do Not Disturb scheduling feature will resume normal functionality after 7 January, 2013. Before this date, you should manually turn the Do Not Disturb feature on or off," Apple said on a status page,Beats Sverige.

The issue represents yet another issue with the firm's newest iOS 6 software update after the high-profile Maps debacle that saw users outraged with the shoddy service that put many locations in the wrong place.

Apple apologised and many have since flocked to Google newly released Maps app for the iPhone.

Atlanta Hawks GM Danny Ferry Fined $15,000 For Being A Tattl

Atlanta Hawks GM Danny Ferry picked up one of the sillier fines this NBA season today, for essentially snitching on Rajon Rondo. The Celtics point guard bumped referee Rodney Mott during Saturday night&#8217,Billiga Monster;s 89-81 win over the Hawks — a game the Hawks led by 19 at one point, by the way — and after the game, Ferry decided to pass along video of Rondo’s faux pas. One problem: he gave it to the referees who called the game. The interaction, defined by the NBA as &#8220,Beats by dre;inappropriate interaction with game officials”, landed him a $15,000 fine and permanent snitch status,Beats Sverige.

Meanwhile, the NBA suspended Rondo for Monday’s game against the New York Knicks, for the bump and failure to cooperate with a league investigation. However, considering the league reviews all games and incidents, Rondo&#8217,Billiga Beats By Dr Dre;s suspension was probably a foregone conclusion, even without Ferry&#8217,Beats By Dr Dre;s playground tactics.

SMB cloud spending topped $45bn in 2012

Small and medium business spending on cloud services in 2012 topped $45bn, and is predicted to rise to $95bn by 2015, according to a new study,Beats By Dr Dre.

Cloud hosting firm Parallels reported that 22 percent of SMBs are currently managing websites through cloud services, with another 30 percent of SMBs planning to adopt cloud-based website management tools by 2015.

"Cloud computing has given SMBs access to computing power, applications,Beats by dre, and services that were formerly available only to large enterprises," Parallels wrote in its study.

"Looking at the global IT landscape in 2012, we see SMBs' participation in the cloud market spanning the full gamut - from having a mature cloud services market to needing education about what cloud services are."

According to Parallels, the SMB market for cloud services will be worth $68bn by 2014,Billiga Monster, double its total estimated worth in 2011.

Parallels expects to see major growth in the hosted infrastructure and business applications segment of SMB cloud computing.

Parallels predicted that spending on hosted infrastructure space will reach $27bn in 2014 up from $14bn in 2011.

Cloud-based business applications for SMBs are also expected to double in 2014. Parallels said spending here will reach $20bn next year up from $9bn in the SMB market in 2011.

The growth of the industry stems from SMBs seeing an advantage in moving their in-house solutions to the cloud, while firms are now "leapfrogging" traditional in-house IT for cloud-based systems.

"[Some] SMBs that currently have no in-house IT solution and are moving, or planning to move, straight to the cloud,Billiga Beats By Dr Dre. [They're] 'leapfrogging' the typical intermediate step of purchasing in-house IT," continued the firm in its study.

"These companies might have rudimentary IT components, such as external hard drives for storage or Excel workbooks for accounting,Monster Beats, but they don't have the kind of in-house infrastructure that the cloud converters do."

Saving money with cloud it's all a question of metrics

Does cloud always save money?

That was the question I asked at the roundtable discussing the launch of Rackspace's research examining the economic impact of the cloud.  I raised the question because the report of the research’s findings had the arresting phrase that cloud “demonstrably was cheaper”, something I know not to be true as I’ve talked about the issue with several cloud customers who ended up paying more.

It turns out the research was pre-selected and considered only cloud users who were happy with their choice. Manchester Business School’s Brian Nicholson says that he would like to have examined companies who had gone to cloud and changed their minds (the business school didn’t conduct the research itself, only analysed the results) as this would have added some fresh insight.

Interestingly, it was Rackspace’s Nigel Beighton who supported the idea that some customers could lose money opting for cloud. As a provider, it might be thought that Rackspace would be all for the idea that everything was rosy in the cloud world and all that a customer had to do was sign on the dotted line and money would come raining in but Beighton points out that customers have to plan cloud deployment more carefully as it could be more expensive if not,Beats by dre. “People do need to be aware of what they're spending and they need a mechanism to measure what they’re saving,” he points out.

His view was supported by Jonathan  Cremins  CEO of Signage Live, a company that is run 100 percent in the cloud. However, he admits to be a second-time round Salesforce user&nbsp,Beats Sverige; as the company’s first stab at adopting the product didn’t go too well.

By stating so boldly that going “demonstrably” saves money, Rackspace has left itself a hostage to fortune. There’s always going to the case that someone loses out &nbsp,Billiga Monster;and ends up forking out more – a company can have a 1,000 customers, 999 of them happy ones and it will often be the unhappy one who’s the most vocal.

Nigel Beighton’s point is a valid one. Companies need to have better measurement of what they’re spending; they need to have more accurate figures on IT performance and staff effectiveness. It’s only then that they can start to gauge how important cloud can be for their business – without accurate metrics ,Beats By Dr Dre, companies have no guide to performance.

The last thing the nascent cloud industry wants is unhappy customers bellyaching that they’re losing money. In virtually all cases, opting for cloud will lead to a cost saving but it must be planned and implemented effectively.&nbsp,Billiga Beats By Dr Dre; That way businesses will truly benefit.

Did Garrett McNamara Ride a 100-Foot Wave [Video]

Garrett McNamara landed himself in the Guinness World Records when it was confirmed that he rode a 78-foot wave in Nazare, Portugal in 2011. That wave was insanely huge and it looks like Garrett may have outdone himself on Monday Jan 28th 2013 back at the same surf spot. It isn&#8217,billige nike free;t confirmed yet, billige nike sko, but it looks like Garrett may have ridden the largest wave ever by a human and initial speculation has the wave clocking in at a mere 100-feet.

According to Surfer Today:

Although is far from clear, as the shot is taken from an upper angle, the ride is unbelievable. Tó Mané freezes the moment when McNamara descends the face of the wave, nike free.

Office 365 to get Yammer integration this summer

Yammer, the Microsoft-owned business-focused social networking service, is to become part of the software giant's Office 365 business offering.

The announcement was made by Jared Spataro, senior director of the Microsoft Office division, via the organisation’s SharePoint blog.

Yammer integration has been a feature of Microsoft’s Dynamics CRM product since February, after it acquired the firm in July 2012 for $1.2 billion (£792.6 million).

However, Spataro added “CRM is only one part of a broader set of work we’re doing to make Yammer the social layer across all of our products”,nike shox.

Integration with Office 365 was, billige nike shox, he said, the next step in that strategy.

In summer 2013, Microsoft will issue an update to Office 365 that allows customers to replace the SharePoint newsfeed with Yammer.

The company also plans to ship an app in the SharePoint Store that will let end users embed a Yammer group feed into a SharePoint site.

“The SharePoint newsfeed will continue to be the default social experience in Office 365, but the option to replace it with Yammer will be a valuable first step in the overall integration process,” he added.

In autumn 2013 a second update will be delivered, which Spataro claims will deepen the integration between the two offerings.

“Customers will still have the option of choosing between Yammer and the SharePoint newsfeed, but this new, nike air max, integrated Yammer experience will offer Single Sign-On (SSO) and seamless navigation. In other words, when you click on the Yammer link in the Office 365 global navigation bar, nike sko, Yammer will appear immediately below with the navigation to get back to Office 365 services, nike free,” he said.

Spataro further claimed that, following this update, the user experiences of Yammer and Office 365 will begin to converge.

“This new Yammer experience will also offer rich document capabilities, integrating the Office Web Apps to add editing and co-editing of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents,” he said.

“Yammer is our big bet for enterprise social, and we're committed to making it the underlying social layer for all of our products. So whether you're an Office 365 customer or running SharePoint on-premises, Yammer will provide the latest innovations and best user experience,” Spataro concluded.

NL WEST

San Diego Padres:  For the San Diego Padres, 2012 was a tale of two very different stories. While they had an abysmal first half of the season and ended the year with a less than appealing 76-86 record which landed them in fourth place in the NL West, 42 of those wins did come after the all-star break in what ended up being a very encouraging second half.  With such a positive finish to the season, there was talk and some level of expectation that the front office would take this offseason to make a few moves that would bolster some areas of weakness to help solidify a young and hungry team. It ended up being an extremely quiet off-season though, and this year’s roster is looking very similar to last years. Whether that momentum from last year will carry over into 2013 is still up in the air, but at least the players in the Padres clubhouse know if there is going to be any hint of that 2012 success present in this upcoming season, it’s going to be with the same core of guys who made it happen last year.

PROJECTED LINEUP:

1,Monster Beats. Everth Cabrera (SS)

2. Logan Forsythe (2B)

3. Chase Headley (3B)

4. Carlos Quentin (LF)

5. Yonder Alonso (1B)

6. Will Venable (RF)

7. Cameron Maybin (CF)

8. Nick Hundley (C)

Bench: Yasmani Grandal (serving 50 game suspension), Chris Denorfia, Jedd Gyorko, Mark Kotsay, Jesus Guzman, John Baker

PROJECTED ROTATION:

1. Edinson Volquez

2. Clayton Richard

3,Beats By Dr Dre. Andrew Cashner

4. Jason Marquis

5. *Undecided

Bullpen: Huston Street (closer), Luke Gregerson, Dale Thayer, Joe Thatcher, Tyson Ross, Brad Brach

Team Overview:  When looking at this roster on paper from top to bottom, I think it’s tough to get overly excited about expectations for 2013. Aside from third baseman Chase Headley who led the Padres in every significant offensive category and had his official coming out party as an elite offensive player last year, there isn’t really a bat in this line-up that will strike fear into opposing pitchers. First baseman Yonder Alonso,Billiga Beats By Dr Dre, who came over from Cincinnati in the Mat Latos trade last offseason, is the next closest thing to an impact bat on this roster and he will be looking to make major strides in his second big league season. He was one of the most heralded prospects in the game when the trade was completed and did have a productive rookie season last year, but will be looking to build on his power numbers in his second go round as his 9 HR’s and 62 RBI’s are a little but under the expectations of an everyday first baseman. Being protected by Headley and Alonso, Left fielder Carlos Quentin can be a force in the middle of the line-up, but injuries have been a constant issue with him over the duration of his career to this point. Carlos has only topped 130 games twice in his career and I wouldn’t hold my breath on him contributing throughout a full season this year either.

One of the biggest gripes among Padres fans and players alike over the past 8 years, has actually had nothing to do with the on-field performance of the team. Since it’s unveiling in 2004, Petco Park, where San Diego plays their home games has been widely considered as the most pitcher friendly park in the majors due to its excessively spacious dimensions. There is little doubt that the initial construction of the park has directly affected the Padres offensive totals over the duration they have called it home. So this offseason, team officials finally took the cries seriously and have moved in the outfield fences around 11-12 feet in all areas. This will inevitably help the stats of above mentioned bats that make up the middle of the Padres line-up. Regardless of where they move the fences though, Headley, Alonso and Quentin’s run producing numbers are solely dependent on the on-base percentages of a few key teammates. The Padres are loaded with speed in players like SS Everth Cabrera (who led the NL in steals in 2012) and OF’s Cameron Maybin and Will Venable, and for this offense to fully reach it’s potential, these guys must get on base at a much more consistent rate than they did last year.

While San Diego’s offensive unit may be ecstatic about the newly introduced field dimensions, I’m confident the pitching staff may feel quite the opposite about them,Beats by dre. For an average and inconsistent pitching staff that finished near the middle of the pack in most of the important statistical categories last year, a new playing field that nullifies a competitive advantage is not too welcome of a sight. I believe their top two listed starters, Volquez and Richard, are most likely number three and four starters on a good amount of current MLB teams. It also isn’t encouraging when the two most talented pitchers on the staff in closer Huston Street and starter Andrew Cashner have constantly dealt with injuries throughout their careers. One of their top prospects, Casey Kelly (23 years old) could possibly break camp as a starter and along with Cashner, could head this rotation for years to come. But anytime you tell me that Jason Marquis (34 years old) and Freddy Garcia (36 years old) are likely to begin the season with rotation spots, I’ll tell you that you are in for a long season.

Fantasy Spin:  Aside from Chase Headley, who is my 9th ranked fantasy 3rd baseman and has been going around the 5th-6th round in early mock drafts, there isn’t much to see here. I didn’t bring up young prized catcher Yasmani Grandal in my above preview because he’s sitting out the first 50 games of the season due to a suspension for testing positive for PED’s. But from a fantasy perspective, there is some value there because like most years, catcher is such a watered down position again this year. If you have an IR slot on your roster and feel the early portion of your draft has gone well, don’t be afraid to pull the trigger on Grandal towards the middle/end of the draft as he will be an asset once back from his suspension. One player I’m monitoring with a close microscope over the next few weeks is Andrew Cashner. He has had a multitude of injuries in his young career, but when healthy has all of the tools to be a dominant strikeout machine. He battled a significant lat injury that had him miss over 2 months of action last year and most recently a severed tendon in his thumb, but if he breaks camp healthy and poised to pitch every 5 games, I’m absolutely taking a late round flier and hoping for the a healthy 2013 campaign. For me, those are really the only 3 players on the Padres that I’m looking to potentially roster on any of my teams.

Prediction: As was the case for the Diamondbacks and Rockies, I just don’t see it happening this year for the Padres. Not enough firepower on either side of the diamond for them to make a surprise run this year. With the top of this division only getting more potent by the year,Beats Sverige, San Diego’s front office will really have to do some self assessing over the next couple seasons and decide if they want to be a player in the near future. Unfortunately, in the NL West it’s looking like any major progress towards changing the culture of a franchise will have to start with the pocketbook. I like a few core pieces of this team, and really appreciate manager Bud Black’s approach to leadership, but I see them in a battle with Colorado to finish 4th and eventually losing out and ending the year in 5th place. At least San Diego is still a beautiful city in October.
